My role on this project was experiential designer at MATTE Projects. My responsibilities included creative devlopment of the guest journey, laying out the floorplan, 3D modelling and rendering all the touchpoints / scenic builds, creating fabrication drawings and communicating design intent to our fabrication partner, and sourcing furniture and props within London. I worked under ACD Andre Brown, and alongside graphic designer Nick Wilson.

Taking it’s name from a 2001 Disney variety cartoon, House of Mouse brings the excitement the show once offered to an evening of fun with friends. Community, creativity and self-expression come together in this vibrant and exploratory social club featuring entertainment and experiences worth capturing.

Hosted by Mickey & Friends, and featuring the dance floor-filling musical genius of DJ Pee Wee aka Anderson Paak guests will have their imagination ignited in an environment where every corner is unique, bold and creative.

Creating a social club in a roller rink (Flipper’s London) proposed a unique challenge - how can we separate the open space into rooms that feel intimate and distinct? Through selectively built walls and hanging drape, we landed on this layout. Two main activation areas - the “Creator’s Studio” and “Game Room” - were each compromised of three distinct corners and a neon tunnel leading onto the dance floor.

Creator Studio
3 distinct photo vignettes
  1. Chip N’ Dale’s Neon Swing
  2. Minnie’s Discotheque
  3. Pleasing’s Vanity Room (Harry Style’s nail polish brand partnership)

Game Room
3 distinct interactive moments
  1. Daisy’s Claw Machine Room
  2. Donald’s Foosball Hall
  3. Epic Mickey’s Gaming Area (Nintendo brand partnership)

The evening’s main event was an all-vinyl set from DJ Pee Wee aka Anderson Paak. We designed the stage in the round, bordered on 3 sides with LED screens. A special platform with faux DJ booths was the site of a DJ battle between Donald, Mickey, and DJ Pee Wee.

Despite the quick turnaround, and long nights spent hunched over the computer trying to figure out what to do for Daisy’s room, the first stop on the House of Mouse World Tour was a night to remember.
